Mr Fluffy & Wednesday

Who doesn’t love a blossoming friendship?!

We certainly do, and we’re so happy Mr Fluffy and Wednesday now have each other.

They are now looking for a home to call their own. Here’s their story…

Mr Fluffy has been in our care for over 12 months now. We don’t know much about his background, other than he’d been roaming round a local village since 2021. We guesstimate him to be approximately 5-6 years old based on this. His finder did all they could to locate an owner, but sadly no one came forward.

Mr Fluffy would sneak into their home via the cat flap, help himself to food and snuggle on the chair, yet as soon as his finder entered the kitchen he’d scarper quick smart. He was seen at one stage lounging on the rug in their kitchen but, again, as soon as they went to walk into the room, he was off.

Whilst he doesn’t yet relish human touch, he will take a lick-e-lix from his fosterer and is intrigued at human interaction, often being a little nosey and poking his head around to see what’s going on. We think with more intensive work, a lot of time and patience, further strides forward could be made.

Wednesday arrived in our care after being spotted and fed by a local residential home. She had birthed two kittens and by all accounts, this wasn’t her first litter. We needed to break this cycle.

Thankfully she and her two kittens were safely brought into our care, marking the start of their new lives. Her kittens went off for intensive socialisation and were rehomed as a pair.

Whilst being foster neighbours, Mr Fluffy and Wednesday were clearly interested in each other, peering at one another through the glass of their respective cabins. We decided to take the leap and see how they interacted together - since that moment, we’ve never looked back! They are now the very best of friends. They both currently reside in a cabin with an attached catio, where they spend almost all of their time together.

They are both challenging cats in the sense it’s so hard for us to work out where they would be best placed. Whilst they don’t yet want lots of human touch, they are still so inquisitive and enjoy treats being fed to them. Wednesday loves to play.

Any potential adopter should be mindful, however, that they won’t come round overnight. They need months of trust building to see how far they can truly settle.

There’s no guarantee they will ever be lap cats, we just don’t know how far they’ll allow themselves to acclimatise. All we know is they are settled in the space with us, they have a structured routine and are very comfortable with human presence. They just need time, patience, love and understanding.

They will initially need their own room, most likely for a good few weeks, potentially months, giving their new owner/s the ability to forge those bonds and try and begin the trust process. They have only had a small foster space so access to a full home will be beyond overwhelming so they will inevitably hide away in fear. If they hide, they won’t want to come out, so forging those bonds will be ever harder to achieve.

With our adorable duo, it really will be a slow and steady operation, with tiny pockets of space being opened up at a time to minimise overwhelm.

Alternatively, dependent on provision, we may consider an outbuilding home, for example a converted summerhouse full of all their favourite towers, toys and home comforts where they can settle and acclimatise before being given wider access to the outdoors. This setup would need to remain theirs on a permanent basis, unless of course over time they made their way into the home to settle. Whatever happens, they need to have a permanent, warm and dry space to access at all times where they feel safe and secure.

We understand finding their forever home won’t be easy, however we are true believers there is a home for every cat we have in branch, it’s just our job to find it.

Could you open your heart and home to these beautiful souls? If so, please complete our adoption form.

Please note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the adoption process.
