Maple - female, black and white, approx. 2 years old,

Cherry - female, black and white, approx. 4 years old

Maple and Cherry came into our care after we were informed about a group of stray and feral cats that had been living around a factory for quite some time.

The people at the factory had been feeding them but it really wasn’t a suitable place for them to be. They already had multiple litters over the years, so we needed to get them into foster care as soon as possible.

With the help of a kind lady that lived locally, we were able to trap them. It’s thought that Maple could be one of Cherry’s kittens from a previous litter as they do look very similar. Both girls had very little human contact apart from being fed from a distance.

Since being in foster, they’ve shown small signs of improvement but they are both still very frightened and even after several months, their fosterer still cannot touch them. Food is a big motivator for them and they do come out of hiding and are quite vocal when they know food is around! They were quite skinny when they arrived but have both put on weight and their coats now have a lovely shine.

Maple and Cherry are looking for a quiet, patient home together with someone who can leave them to take things at their own pace and in their own time. We do think that their confidence with people will continue to improve in the right home environment, but if not, then accept them as they are and still give them a happy life and feed and care for them.

There is no way that we could rehome them to be barn cats and lead a feral life as they have become used to home comforts. Even though they are not totally comfortable with humans, we have seen small improvements so we’re hopeful that they will eventually get there in a quiet and patient home that will allow them to be who they want to be.

Having a spare room to set them up in initially is important so they feel they have their own safe space. This is currently what they have in their foster home. They can then gradually have access to other rooms to become used to their new home.

Depending on their progress, it could be several months or more before they could have access outside so it’s extremely important that doors and windows are kept closed until then.

We will require any new owner to keep in contact with us so we can track their progress and give advice, depending on what sort of life they ultimately choose.

Please get in touch if you can offer these gorgeous girls their forever home by completing our adoption form.

Please note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the adoption process.
