Stan

Meet our man, Stan!

Now officially rehome ready, here’s all you need to know about our very special boy…

Stan is a big boy, looking for an understanding and experienced home as he continues his transition from the dire colony site he was rescued from, to domesticated home life. He’s a little wary and jumpy and still eats food as though he’s never eaten – he’s quite frenzied when it comes to putting the food in his bowl, he can’t get to it quickly enough. It’s often around feeding time he gets most overstimulated. He can’t yet understand that if the bowl has food in, it’s all for him and he can eat slowly and enjoy his meal. But as each day passes, he settles more and he adores human interaction and fuss.

He does not like being picked up or put into a carrier, understandably after all he’s been through with trapping and vet visits. We would therefore strongly advise adopters look into a large, strong top loading carrier. We can help advise on these and also provide details of how to get these at a rescue discounted rate. This will support ease of transport for any future vet’s visits whilst also ensuring he is completely safe and secure.

Whilst Stan has been a colony cat and is used to other feline presence, it would be our preference to find a home where he can settle alone, as we are not sure how he would take to a home with existing felines. We believe he was quite a dominant boy in his former life and we always have to think about the other cat(s) in the home when rehoming rescues, as we never want any others to feel pushed out or unsettled themselves. We will however consider every enquiry on a case by case basis.

We feel Stan could live comfortably with cat friendly dogs, if introductions are slow and controlled. Stan will not cope with young children so older children and adult only homes please.

Stan will need an initial settling in room, even if there are no other animals in the home. His foster space has been small to assist with human interaction and socialisation, gentle getting him used to human presence, which has worked wonderfully. He will need the wider home opened up slowly to aid his settling.

Stan has been neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated and fully vaccinated. He’s officially ready to go! Now is his time to find a home and begin to settle. He is an absolute delight and will really be a perfect companion once he’s forged bonds with his new family member(s).

For anyone wishing to register their interest for Stan, please complete our adoption form.

Please note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the adoption process. Every cat deserves the opportunity to be provided with the required veterinary treatment should they need it during times of illness or injury.
